Henna, scientifically known as Lawsonia inermis, is a shrub or small tree from the Lythraceae family. It is native to regions of North Africa, the Middle East, and South Asia. The leaves of the henna plant contain a natural dye molecule called lawsone, which has been used for centuries to create intricate and temporary body art, particularly in traditional Mehndi designs. Henna is also used for hair dyeing and has some medicinal uses in traditional herbal medicine.
الحناء، المعروفة علمياً بالاسم اللاتيني لاوسونيا إنيرميس، هي شجيرة أو شجرة صغيرة من عائلة الليثريسيات. و موطنها المناطق شمال أفريقيا والشرق الأوسط وجنوب آسيا. يحتوي أوراق نبات الحناء على جزيء صبغي طبيعي يسمى لاوسون، والذي تم استخدامه لقرون لإنشاء فن الجسد المؤقت والمعقد، خصوصاً في تصاميم المهندي التقليدية. كما يستخدم الحناء أيضاً لصبغ الشعر وله استخدامات طبية في الطب العشبي التقليدي
