Tamarisk, scientifically known as Tamarix spp. and commonly as salt cedar, is a small to medium-sized tree that can grow up to 30 feet tall. It’s an evergreen tree native to dry areas of southern Europe, northern Africa, and western Asia. Tamarisk plants have feathery, small leaves and produce dense clusters of pink or white flowers. They are often grown for their ornamental value, particularly in arid landscapes, and are sometimes used in soil erosion control.
